Representative Harry Crawford has always fought to keep our homes and neighborhoods safe. In the Alaska State House, Harry introduced legislation to prevent repeat DUI offenders from buying alcohol and supported tougher sentences for sexual predators and child molesters. Read more
Responsible development of Alaska’s natural resources brings with it high-paying jobs. That’s what allowed Harry Crawford to raise his family here in Alaska, and it’s an opportunity that should be available to his children, and their children. This can be accomplished through three simple efforts: build our gas line now; get renewable energy projects like the Fire Island Wind Farm and the Bradley Lake Hydro Project online; and increase job training opportunities for Alaskans. Harry and other Democratic legislators filed a petition with the Division of Elections to place an initiative on the 2004 ballot that would allow Alaskans to fill a vacant U.S. Senate seat by special election. The “Trust The People” ballot initiative came about after Frank Murkowski appointed his daughter Lisa to his Senate seat after being elected governor in 2002. Read more
While serving in the Alaska State House, Harry joined an unprecedented coalition of fishermen, conservationists, government officials, Tribes, and scientists from Alaska, Canada, and Lower 48 that called on the Canadian government to safeguard wild fish stocks along the Pacific coast. Read more
Harry does not support risking a renewable resource for the exploitation of a non-renewable resource. The health of the renewable resource should always come first. That said, Harry believes that less destructive and harmful extraction methods could be acceptable rather than the proposed open pit. Read more
State Senator Hollis French and Representative Harry Crawford introduced a plan to protect the Permanent Fund Dividend through a constitutional amendment. Crawford and French believe that drawing money from the dividend should be ‘dead last’ on the list for how to balance the state budget. Read more
